Overview:
This is a continuation of our greater Privacy Policy under contagious.dev. Please refer to that policy to see how your data matter be handled if transferred to them (me), but it’s not handled any differently than here. I treat your privacy and data as first class citizens.
The nitty gritty
- Data added to the Benchmark app will not be collected or transmitted by us or anyone else. This includes images, data, and any other user generated content.
- Anonymous metrics about data and usage can and will likely be collected.
- Collected information can be used to develop, deliver, protect, and improve our products, services, content, and customer communications. This information will used used for sale.
- Any collected data can be transferred to and used by the Contagious Development network, but will continue be managed according to this privacy policy’s definition.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Media
Benchmark, the app, does not automatically transmit any media information that might have been added (such as Attachments and data) to sources outside of standard sync services to support functionality (e.g., iCloud).
However, if you upload images to the website (via bug reports, feedback requests, or other methods), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
IP Address & Other Fingerprint information
This may be captured on non-personal data collection submission. This is used to determine the legitimacy of purchases and will not be used for other cases unless warranted. If abuse is detected (this includes hacking, DDoSing, exploiting, stealing being a jerk), this information and any other collected by the site may be used and exposed to a public audience freely.
Analytics
Both this website and app collect analytics from visitors using Google Analytics (Website) and Telemetry Deck (app). You should see their policy for their data collection practices.
App Usage Information
- When sign up for the Feedback Beta program, we ask you for your email address and name (First and Last).
- Benchmark may occasionally transmit metrics and other telemetry data about usage in accordance with the device’s Share with App Developer settings. Any personal information collected during this process will be discarded upon discovery.
- Benchmark can speak to the parent servers (contagious.dev or apple.com) to provide the above information. No personal information will be collected during this process and if accidentally discovered, will be discarded
- Crash reports contain device and usage information are sent in accordance with the device’s Share with App Developer settings.
Data considered “non-personal”:
Here are some examples of non-personal information that we collect – either by ourselves or through the use of third-party services:
- When you visit our website, we Google Analytics to capture general statistic information including your IP address. Please see their Privacy Policy here (to which you agree to by visiting this site)
- When our Software crashes, we collect and store crash reports to help us analyze the crash and determine the source of the problem. We currently use Apple’s Metric services to collect and process crash reports.
- Usage analytics and telemetry data may be collected anonymously. This includes, but is not limited to, usage of features or particular interface components. Device type, language, and operating system may be included.
- Our software may periodically check our servers for updates or notices; in this case, we also log the IP address, device type, language, operating system and the date and time of the request.
Who we share your data with
Data collection by Contagious Development on Benchmark will remain with Contagious unless of abuse violation occurrences.
- We don’t share personal information with anyone outside of Contagious Development, except for the few exceptions below:
- Our web services are hosted by companies which may retrain information for storage or backup purposes. We do our best when choosing these services to ensure both Caramel and any information trusted to us is kept safe.
- We are also bound by law to share any information that may be requested in a reasonable capacity. We ensure our effort in making any formal request known and legitimate.
- If Benchmark is involved in a reorganization, merger, or sale, the information we collect may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- We may transmit data between Contagious Development and any sister services: each is bound to follow the privacy policy expectations set here.
- We use any personal and non-personal information we collect to help us develop, deliver, protect, and improve our products, services, content, and customer communications. It is also used to keep you up to date on the latest announcements and updates, or to send you important notices. You may opt out of receiving these communications.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment or submit a form, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue and refer to any messages submitted.
Non-personal, personal information given to supplement, and metric information collected through Benchmark may also be collected indefinitely.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Your contact information
This information may be shared with out Contagious services, however it will not be shared with any third parties without your consent. Most importantly, it will never be sold or used for profit.

This website runs an SSL to ensure a safe authentic connection. Our data server and this site are also backed up by additional security measures.
